Join Us! 7/9/2008

  Welcome

Join us on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. for our Guild meeting. We meet at the Arts Warehouse beside the Farmers Market on Murray Ave. We have demos or programs at each meeting by artists to give us tips and techniques on different mediums of art. You can always pick up tips to incorporate into your own work and learn things to increase your skills.
If you would like to join the Guild, we have a newsletter each month to keep you abreast of art and member news and also upcoming shows or exhibitions in the area.

The Artist Guild hosts a juried membership show at the Arts Center every year. We are planning more exhibition and sales opportunities for the coming year and hope for lots of participation. Our membership show at the Anderson Arts Center, Belton Center for the Arts Juried Show, the Union County show and the County Museum show are all coming up in September and October. Get more information about these shows in the AAG member newsletter.

A Brief History

The Anderson Artists Guild was established in 1964 in the basement of the home of Mrs. Blanche Holcombe under the name of the Anderson Art Association. The early members were the founders of the Anderson County Arts Center and provided a substantial sum to the fund for restoring the old Carnegie Building which is now the Anderson County Arts Center.

Since it's first beginnings when there were no places for exhibitions and little enthusiasm from the general public, the Anderson Art Association, now the Anderson Artists Guild, has grown in stature of itself and with the growth of Anderson County.

The Aim of the Anderson Artists Guild is to encourage member artists to further their work, to grow and to put good art in front of the people in the area.

The Guild holds two shows annually...an annual membership show and a show at the Anderson County Fair in the fall of the year with generous support from the Fair Management. Member artists have had individual shows and many have received honors within and out of the state.

Now, another enthusiastic generation is moving in and it is hoped that the Guild will continue to be able to give pleasure to the people of the county by their ever improving work, and that their membership will continue to grow so that the Guild may remain a viable and lively force in the community.
